Winter landscapes: almonds in blossom

The fields are as white as snow. The valleys under the Tramuntana and the enormous farmlands that extend around it are one of the places on earth where between February, March and April you can enjoy the magic show of seeing the almond trees bloom. Like a flawless cloak shining on the island during these Winter and Spring months, it is one of the most beautiful postcard images along with the lowlands full of daisies and poppies.

The almond, as well as being a basic ingredient in Mallorcan cuisine, also makes its presence felt in Winter. The almond trees are present in many of the villages near the Serra de Tramuntana and both their silhouettes and then their blossoms make perfect models for endless photographs.
