Shopping in Inca

noticiaShopping in Inca.

The city of Inca's commercial and business importance in Mallorca is undisputed. Located half way between the capital Palma and the area that includes Alcudia and Pollença, it finds itself between the two busiest ports in Mallorca.

Inca is also the meeting point for two different economies on the island. That is, those of the mountains and the flat country, represented by the local regions known as nord (the north) and pla (the plain).

The city's commercial activities revolve around its weekly market, which is held every Thursday, and its dominant shoe and leather industries, for which Inca is renowned.

Inca's footwear industry stems from a strong craft heritage. This has evolved from a small 19th-century shoemaker's to big names at the forefront of the industry, led by famous shoe and leather brands such as Camper, Lottuse, Barrats, Farrutx and others.

Thanks to this craft culture and the businesses that were born from it, Inca is well known in the international markets and is officially recognised as the European city of leather ('ciudad europea de la piel').

As well as the weekly market, its craftspeople and shoe brands, every year on the third Thursday in November Inca hosts Mallorca's most important festival, the Dijous Bo. Since time immemorial, traders and buyers have met here to make agricultural and livestock deals.

Nowadays, the Dijous Bo isn't just about typical local business activities and agreements. It's also a celebration that offers leisure activities, entertainment and shopping of all sorts.

For shopaholics, Inca is a truly fantastic place for finding high-quality products at very low prices. Inca is a real treat for the senses. Get to know: Hotel Prinsotel La Pineda in Cala Ratjada, Hotel Prinsotel Alba in Cala d'Or and Hotel Prinsotel Mal Pas in Alcudia.
