Ses Fonts Ufanes

Mallorca has precious spots that can only be enjoyed at their best during the Winter season and the rainy months. Such is the case with Ses Font Ufanes, one of nature’s true whims that gives the anyone who comes to see it one of the most beautiful spectacles that can be found on the island.

Ses Fonts Ufanes are located in the small village of Campanet, in the north of Mallorca, at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, very close to the towns of Inca, Selva and Mancor de la Vall. Certified as a natural monument, in heavy rainy weather you have to be careful and you can’t always visit.

The best thing is to wait for the storms to pass and the weather to settle as these natural fountains spring from the ground quite suddenly when water accumulates in the Puig Tomir. The steep slope and the quality of the soil (mostly limestone), make springs suddenly appear by surprise, almost chaotically, with very strong currents capable of dragging tree branches, stones and all kinds of vegetation in their paths. The torrent that forms can be observed any day of the year but it is really worth it when it is charged with water as it is the most unique hydrological phenomenon in Mallorca.

It is an ideal place to go with children since the whole route through the Es Gabellí Petit estate is perfect for travelling with the family but it is best to make sure that there is no danger either approaching the fountains or along the way which runs through an oak grove. The property is open to the public every day of the year and from the entrance area to the place where you can see the spouting springs, there is about a 20 minute walk. The route is mostly flat, except for a small incline at the entrance to the wooded area.

In addition to enjoying the beauty of the fountains, along the way you can see olive groves, almonds, vineyards, endless orchards ... If you organize your day to spend the whole day exploring in Campanet and get to know this town at the feet of the Tramuntana a liitle better, you shouldn’t miss the caves to be found there, since although they are not as famous as the caves of Drach, they are a good example of what Mallorca is like underground.

Experience Mallorca from a thousand and one perspectives. Experience Prinsotel.
