Cala Ratjada dresses up in July

The traditional festivities of Majorca are the best way to enjoy the true essence of Majorca. Its lively atmosphere and the joy of its people makes it possible for the visitor to easily integrate and experience the customs of the place as a true local.

This month of July, the biggest festivity of Majorca is celebrated in Cala Ratjada: the feast of Saint Carmen, patron saint of this charming fishing village of Majorca. Flowers, gastronomy, music and arts and crafts will meet for a week on this Mediterranean town.

Cala Ratjada, a town northeast of Majorca and belonging to the municipality of Capdepera, is one of the fishing villages of the island that has preserved its devotion to his patron saint: Every 16th July a mass is celebrated at the fishermen’s docks at the port and the sailors boats go to sea in procession, all decorated with flowers, and one of the boats holds the figure of the Virgin on board.

The parade is spectacular, but the festivities continue well beyond this “big day”. For more than a week, the streets and squares of the town, its bars and its people enjoy a special atmosphere, full of fun and activities that one should not miss.

Taking advantage of your holidays in Majorca to experience, from within, one of these celebrations is a highly recommended experience. Thus, guests of our Hotel Prinsotel La Pineda, in the same town of Cala Ratjada, may combine their days of rest in the Mediterranean with a healthy dose of tradition in a unique atmosphere.

The weather is spectacular, with very mild temperatures throughout the day and night. Fireworks and parades make the delight of both children and adults. Bars and restaurants dress up and offer unique and exclusive dishes. And our hotel in Cala Ratjada for families can book our guests for special events and typical menus.

Come celebrate your summer holidays with Prinsotel and discover the authentic Majorca.
