La Seu, Mallorca’s Cathedral

11.10.2016

The Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca is locally called La Seu. A name that is always pronounced with pride, admiration and affection as it is one of the icons of the Balearic Islands. Beautiful as can be, it is the only gothic style cathedral facing the sea. In fact, the area of the Parc de la Mar and the Paseo Maritimo was sea in the past, all the way up to the fortified walls the protected the ancient city.

Strolling around its premises, photographing its facade, walking inside the cathedral and just recently, it is also possible to visit the second floor. A few months ago, the general public was granted access to the superior terraces, with the best views that one can imagine to the city and the Mediterranean Sea.

It is important to note that the interior of the Cathedral holds the astonishing works of Miquel Barcelo. For all those who have not been able to visit it, we hope you enjoy the splendor of La Seu:
