Six wonderful ideas for spring in Mallorca

04.04.2018

During the last days of winter all we wanted was good weather, sunny days, pleasant temperatures, so we could enjoy a meal with family or friends on the terrace….well, spring is here! It is the perfect time to enjoy Majorca's beaches, landscapes, nature and good food. With the arrival of spring, on the 23rd March 2018, there are also 2 Prinsotel Hotels & Apartments opening up; they are: the Prinsotel Mal Pas (Mal Pas, Alcúdia) and the Prinsotel Alba, Cala d'Or (Santanyí).

So, we would like to give you some recommendations for getting to know the island during this fantastic time of year.

Sport: as we have mentioned, now is the perfect time to practice outdoor sports, in amongst nature such as hiking or cycling, both in the mountains and by the sea. If you travel with children, there are excursions to suit every taste and need.

Cuisine: lovers of good food will identify with the phrase "Food is my true love". At Prinsotel we care about good nutrition, which means we not only offer a variety of foods, but we also offer vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. Also, we always support the local cuisine, so you will find sweet and savoury products that are typical of Majorca.

Have a walk on the beach: If you really want to unwind, relax and feel the sand between your toes, a good walk along the beach will definitely make you forget the stresses of day-to-day life. You will find that there is a perfect temperature for walking along the shoreline and If you are tired, just sit and watch the sea.

Visit Palma: if you have enough time, visiting Palma (capital of the Balearic Islands) is highly recommended. The monuments that will attract your attention the most are the "La Seu" Cathedral, a traditional Gothic monument facing the sea and also Bellver Castle, one of the few circular castles in Europe which has stunning views of the entire bay of Palma. You can let yourself drift through the streets of the old town and discover beautiful palaces with delightful interior patios, or if you prefer to go shopping, you will find lots of different boutiques and spots where you will lose track of time.

Browse the bay of Pollensa: If you want to feel like a real sailor, the large bay of Pollensa offers a multitude of water sports such as kite-surfing, windsurfing, jet ski, kayaking and more. The best thing of all is to go in a llaüt (a typical Majorcan boat), completely unhurried as you contemplate the beauty of the north coast of the island. The bay is not so exposed to the big waves so it’s a key site for water sports.

Villages of the Sierra de Tramuntana: If we go to the mountains we can find truly charming spots. UNESCO declared The Sierra de la Tramuntana a World Heritage Site in 2011 in the category of Natural Landscape. It is a route recommended for discovering some of the island’s most charming villages. You can travel through it from northeast to southwest or vice versa, making stops in towns like Sóller where you can try a delicious natural orange ice cream, or see an impressive sunset in Deià, walk the beautiful streets of Valldemossa eating a ‘coca de patata’ (artisan potato cake) or have your first dip of the year in Banyalbufar.
