The magic of fire

13.02.2017

In Mallorca Winter is a holiday. At least this January, just a few days after the Christmas holiday season, the island shines brightly once again, lighting up and catching fire to celebrate the most traditional and deeply rooted festivals in Mallorca: Sant Antoni (Saint Anthony) and Sant Sebastià (Saint Sebastian). The last one is also the patron saint of the city of Palma, the island’s capital, which celebrates his virtues and good deeds.

For weeks, there are lots of activities for all ages, concerts, exhibitions and parades (correfocs), but on the night of the 19th to the 20th of January the great night of Palma is celebrated. The squares are filled with people who go to see the concerts, the streets smell of smoke and the barbecues that the city council places everywhere are in short supply because so many neighbors, locals and sight-seers want to join in this evening of toasting together, dancing and partying until dawn.

Some of those who have had the opportunity to visit the island during this time have seen at first hand the fire in the heart of this unique place just as you can see in the following video:

From Prinsotel, we want bring you a bit of the beauty of this Mallorcan and Mediterranean tradition and we’d like to invite you to book your next trip to this dream destination today.
